Deficit of defined benefit occupational pensions declines
Data released today by the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) shows that the aggregate deficit of the 5,794 defined benefit occupational pension schemes in the PPF 7800 Index decreased over the month to £226.5 billion at the end of March 2017, from a deficit of £242.0 billion at the end of February 2017.
As a result, the funding ratio improved. In March 2017, there were 4,312 schemes in deficit and 1,482 schemes in surplus
