First quarter 2016 inbound ferry/tunnel visits increase share of the sector

Results from the International Passenger Survey (IPS) show that inbound overseas resident visits to the UK by sea or train in the first quarter 2016 increased by 4% over the same quarter in 2015 to 1.895 million visits. Outbound UK resident visits remained more or less the same with 1.983 million visits in the first quarter 2015 increasing to 1.991 million visits. In the previous 12 months, the inbound and outbound ferry/train sectors have accounted for 50% of the sector each in terms of visits.
